LaJesse Harold (’25) lining up at the line of scrimmage head on with the Panthers.

Junior LaJesse has been collecting D1 college offers like trading cards: University of  Georgia, University of Cincinnati, University of Colorado, University of Florida, Louisianna State University and Pennsylvania State University to name a few.

LaJesse Harold (’25) plays defensive end and holds a four-star rating, making him amongst the top players at the high school level for his position. His high skill level made him the perfect candidate for eager college scouts on the search for additions to their roster. He received  27 D1 offers at colleges across the country, many of the schools being a member of the South Easter Conference (SEC) and Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC).

“College coaches are always looking for the next wave of talented student-athletes. They will call/visit campuses across the country, collect the data, then decide which kids best fit their school,” Robinson Head Coach Mike Williams said. “They will then extend different versions of an athletic scholarship that covers everything from room, board, food, etc.”

Harold is new to the Robinson scene, having transferred from Wharton. The last season he played for Wharton where he held a winning record of 8-3. The move to a totally new school before the start of his junior year may not have been easy, but it allowed him to improve under Williams’ coaching.

“Moving here and playing here at Robinson helped me become more of a leader on the field and be closer with the guys on the team,” Harold said.

His respectable 27 offers do not just come from his athletic skills, but his above-average GPA as a football player. Academically prestigious schools such as the University of Florida and the University of Georgia have offered him places on their team and in their schools, an opportunity many students strive for every day.

“Jesse has the size and athletic ability, which is the first thing that gets colleges’ attention. He also has a high GPA that shows he can handle college classwork,” Williams said.

Considering all of his options, his peers from high school may one day be watching him play as they cheer from student sections at the major universities in the state, or even from home as he joins the ranks of some of the most popular college football programs in the country. Having played football for the majority of his life, Harold feels that his hard work and dedication to the sport have finally come to fruition.

“Yes I have gotten offers from schools I’d love to go to,” Harold said. “I’ve really just dreamed about playing at Division 1 level since I was little, so even getting these offers is just great.”

About the Contributors
Ashlyn Miller
Ashlyn Miller, Sports Editor
Ashlyn Miller is a junior at Robinson and the Sports Editor of Knight Writers. This is her second year on staff and first year as an editor. Miller's favorite part of journalism is taking photos of all of the sports at Robinson and improving her photography skills. "We don't exactly have press at Robinson so it's rewarding to me to take photos of people doing what they love," Miller said. Outside of the journalism room, Miller stays involved in school with an array of hobbies. She enjoys staying involved in school by participating in swimming, photography and orchestra. She enjoys playing the violin and loves learning new pieces. "If you're able to make the violin sound good, it's a such rewarding accomplishment for such a difficult instrument," Miller said. Miller also likes spending time with her dog in her past time. Out of cats or dogs, she instantaneously chose dogs. "I prefer dogs. I actually own a German Shepherd named Leia and she's the light of my life, but I have nothing against cats," Miller said. Prepared for the future, she plans to attend journalism school, preferably at Duke University and join their ROTC program.  Miller is passionate about media and sports although how competitive positions are. "I want to specialize in the media realm and possibly be a sports commentator for ESPN," Miller said. "I love watching, covering and even playing sports because of the environment that surrounds them and the gratification that comes with doing well." (Profile by Briana Garcia)
Jasmyn Mitchner
Jasmyn Mitchner, Staff Writer
Jasmyn Mitchner is a sophomore at Robinson and is a staff writer for Knight Writers. This is her first year on staff. As her first year in newspaper, Mitchner looks forward to writing stories and is hoping to improve her photography skills this year. "English has always been my favorite subject because I like to write essays about things I'm passionate about and I love poetry as well," Mitchner said. Mitchner is involved in clubs and sports at Robinson. She is the class representative of PTSA and is a general member of the Student Government Association (SGA). Mitchner also plays soccer and flag football for the school. She is planning on going to college after high school and going into the health field. "I am passionate about sports and helping people. So, I want to go to college for soccer and study nursing to one day become a neonatal nurse," Mitchner said. Last year, Mitchner tied the record for the highest goal scorer in Robinson's soccer history as a freshman. Mitchner likes to not only play sports in her free time, but also likes to hang out with friends and enjoys listening and singing music. "I like to listen to old R&B; I love the songs Candy Rain and I love listening to Drake and SZA. Also, I like going to concerts like Busta Rhymes and 50 Cent," Mitchner said. Yesenia Rosario
Yesenia Rosario, News & Features Editor
Yesenia Rosario is a junior at Robinson and the News & Features Editor of  Knight Writers. This is her second year on staff and her first year as an editor.  Rosario has a deep fondness for the community that journalism has built for her, leading her to return to the staff for a second year.  "What brings me back is the community and the work, it’s very great. It’s very easy but fun at the same time," Rosario said.  Although busy with her academics, Rosario manages to find time for hobbies; she especially enjoys baking and being with friends. Rosario also appreciates a wide variety of media, particularly the essence of Jordan Peele's movies. Currently, “Coraline” is ranked as one of her favorite movies due to its more dark and irreverent tone.  “It's not that I don't lean over any other genres of movies, it's just that I think that thrillers and creepy movies have you on the edge of your seat more, they could be more interesting," Rosario said. "More can be done with a lesser timeframe, rather than like two-hour movies, and though they're good, they're pretty lengthy, so I think that horror and thriller movies have so much content in a short amount of time." Being a movie and music enthusiast, her favorite section to write is A&E. She often finds herself gravitating towards sections that allow her to editorialize.  “I prefer writing album reviews over any other, because it's something I enjoy writing about and giving my opinion on and it gives me a reason to listen to music for fun, rather than having to write lengthy feature stories or any informative story that aren't as fun to write," Rosario said.  Rosario hopes that her love for writing will continue to play a role in her future, even after high school. “One of the reasons I like journalism is that you’re able to choose and write about what you’d like and I think that’s pretty cool," Rosario said.  Profile by (Jordan De La Cruz)
