On May 16, the Knights football team traveled to the stadium at Plant High School for their annual spring game. During this game, more opportunities are given for rising athletes to get game experience. The high-stakes atmosphere of a rival game gave them motivation to play their hardest despite the game not going on official records.

The two-quarter game started out with a 60-yard touch-down from wide receiver Allan Lewis (’23).  After a missed field goal, the score was brought to 6-0 in the Knights favor.

“It always feels good to score first against Plant, similar to our last game against them. Even though it was a field goal attempt, the snap was bad, so I had to think on the fly of how to score,” Lewis said.

The Panthers went on to score three more touchdowns, completing all of their field goals as well. This brought the score to 21-6 at halftime. After the second quarter, Robinson and Plant left the field for Hillsborough and Blake to take over for the rest of the game.

Although the outcome was not what we wanted, the team came together and exceeded our expectations. We have a very young team with a bunch of guys who had little to no varsity football experience. Of course, our numbers are low, but they went and showed fight and heart, which is a great upside,” Quarterback Eric Archield (’25) said.

With a new turf field on the way, the Knights will face off in their annual game against Plant, taking place at RHS for the 2023-2024 school year.
