It’s that time of year when students are beginning to lose their motivation, they’re in desperate need of a break. Luckily, winter break is quickly approaching, but with it comes this year’s midterms. The midterm schedule changed slightly from last year’s, so here is a rundown of the 2022 midterm schedule.

Monday, Dec. 19: Traditional students will take their first period exam and IB students will take their block 1-1 exam along with their block 1-3 exam. After traditional students have finished their first period exam from 8:30-10:30 a.m., they will follow a modified schedule and attend their second through seventh periods. IB students will follow a different schedule. They will take their block 1-1 exam from 8:30-10:30 a.m. From there they will attend block 1-2 and lunch before taking their block 1-3 exam from 12:14-2:14 p.m. The IB students will then finish off the day by attending block 1-4.

Tuesday, Dec. 20: Traditional students will take their second and third period exams and IB students will be taking their block 2-1 and 1-2 exams. The first exams of the day will be issued from 8:30-10:30 a.m., followed by a ten minute break and then the second exam will begin at 10:40 a.m. and end at 12:40 a.m.

Wednesday and Thursday will follow the same schedule as the previous day.

Wednesday, Dec. 21: Traditional students will take their fourth and fifth period exams, while IB students will take their block 2-2 and 2-3 exams.

Thursday, Dec. 22: Traditional students will take their sixth and seventh period exams and IB students will be taking their block 1-4 and 2-4 exams.

Friday, Dec. 23: This will be a normal school day, with a modified schedule in which students get out at 12:30 p.m. Traditional students are set to attend 3o minute classes and IB students will attend hour long B-Day classes. However, the administration has made it clear that school is not mandatory on Friday.

Although midterms are quickly approaching, not all students are particularly happy with the new changes to the exam schedule. Many students feel it is unfair for them to have to attend classes on Monday in between their exams.

“I think that [the new exam schedule on Monday] is unnecessary because I would like to study for my exams the next day instead of having to go to class,” Sanjna Madabhushanam (’24) said.

However, others are grateful for the change because it allows students to take Friday off.

“I’m super happy we get to have Friday off so it’s sort of an extra day added to [Winter] break. Especially because [our] break starts so close to Christmas,” Nina Brown (’24) said.
