A Knight of Elegance: Prom News & Information

With prom season coming by, here’s some rules and info for the greatest night of the year.

With the school year coming to a close comes one of the two greatest school events at Robinson: Prom. A night where upperclassmen can let loose all the stress of school life and instead spend the day with friends, whether it’s sitting or dancing. However, it’s essential that everyone planning to attend be informed and prepared, so here is all the information on everything prom.

Theme: The theme for the 2026 prom is Old Money, which is described by elegance and is very neutral in color tone. Charlie Watts (’27), one of the event organizers, plans on utilizing the space, which seems to already fit into the theme with elegant tones. However, she also plans on implementing the fun of prom to make the night spectacular.

“We’re using the Hotels Flor’s pre-existing decorations and style, and we’re just going to add in a few elements both to elevate the current theme of the event and to include more fun, like lighting and dance floor,” Watts said.

General Info:

– 7 to 11 pm @ Hotel Flor

-Guest application from now until the 27th

-Prom court applications for now until the 27th

– Prom Tickets sold from My Payments Plus, starting now until April 3rd

-Valet parking is included

Eligibility Criteria for 2026 Prom Court:

– Be a member of the class of 2026

– Acquire clearance and approval for student affairs

– Be debt-free (See Mr. Jaksec, Ms. Franks or Mr. Wade at lunch for signature)

– Have a GPA of 2.0 or higher (Faculty endorsement required)

– Submit a non-refundable application fee of $5, cash by Friday, 3/38 @3:25pm

Elections information:

– Approved candidates will be notified, through Canvas message, by Saturday, 4/12

– Campaign from 3/30-4/3 with 1 poster. Posters are to be approved by Mr. Wade. All posters are to be hung in the cafeteria. Please bring your own blue painter’s tape to hang your own posters once approved.

Please note: no stickers, banners, flyers, or “giveaways” are permitted. In other words, you cannot buy a vote with a cookie. Should we learn to vote temper or bribing, candidates may be disqualified.

-Elections will be held through Canvas. Polls will be open for 50 hours, from 10:00 am April 6th through 12:00 pm April 8th

-Prom court will be announced on Friday, 4/10, at the end of the school day.

-Queen and king will be crowded at 9 pm

Jordan Lee, Staff Writer

Jordan Lee is a senior and a staff writer entering his second year in journalism. This year, Lee is looking towards specializing in multimedia, somethings he’s wanted to do since he started Journalism One last year. “I want to go into more of the media aspects, like interviews and stuff,” Lee said. “My biggest goal is for me to put out funny content and have more people watch the media we put out.” With much of the staff who made up the multimedia section last year having graduated, Lee is going to have his hands full keeping up with the creation of videos and conducting interviews. However, with a good attitude and a passion for multimedia, he is ready to take on the workload and become a core member of his section. Aside from journalism, Lee takes part in plenty of other extracurricular activities. Lee is a four-year member and vice president of the culinary club and plans to join the track team this year, where he will compete in shotput. “I really like making pastries or desserts,” Lee said. “I would say tiramisu is my favorite thing to make.” Outside of school, when he’s not working at Jersey Mikes, he enjoys playing video games and reading. “On my PlayStation, I play the usual, like- Fortnite, Overwatch, Valorant,” Lee said. ” I read a lot, but right now my favorite book is Better than the Movies.” With an affinity for videos and interviews, Lee is a crucial addition to the knight writers this year, helping fill a multimedia section that was almost empty at the beginning of the year. With a multitude of ideas and a positive attitude, he’s determined to make multimedia more entertaining than its ever been. (Profile by Garrett Senzon)

Cecilia Cheng, Print Managing Editor

Cecilia Cheng is a senior at Robinson and the Print Managing Editor of Knight Writers. This is her third year on staff and her third year as an editor. A self-proclaimed “Swiftie,” Cheng is constantly listening to some form of pop music, but her current favorites include Taylor Swift, Clairo and Pheobe Bridgers. When she’s not listening to music, Cheng can be found taking photos, hanging out with friends, thrifting or catching up on her favorite TV shows. As of right now, her absolute favorite show is “Heartstopper,” but it fluctuates frequently. This love of TV and movies is reflected in her large discography of reviews on the Knight Writers website and former position as the A&E editor for two years. Cheng makes it clear that A&E is her favorite section. Although she is a big fan of A&E, Cheng enjoys writing articles regardless of their section. “My favorite thing about journalism is the storytelling aspect of it,” Cheng said. “I love how I’m able to express my opinion and give people that are underrepresented a voice as well.” Outside of journalism, Cheng is involved in many other aspects of the Robinson community, holding positions as the Secretary of Women in STEM and the Social Media Manager of Mu Alpha Theta. Despite her connections to the school, Cheng is excited to graduate and see what awaits her. She hopes to head to her top college, Northeastern, where she plans to major in Biology. However, she isn’t prepared to forget her time as a Knight Writer and plans to pursue her journalistic interests as well. “Right now, I’m looking to go to college and major in Biology, to go the pre-med track. I haven’t decided where I want to go yet, but I really hope I get into Northeastern. Also, if it’s possible, I want to double major in Journalism or I would join my college’s newspaper.” (Profile by Charlotte Stone)
