Under the bright lights with a packed student section, the Knights defeat the Blake Yellow Jackets, reigning over District 6 for the first time in 11 years.

“It feels amazing [to have been] a part of this accomplishment,” said wide receiver Xander Logan (’25) who scored two touchdowns against the Yellow Jackets.

The game was very one-sided with the Knights seemingly keeping control throughout the night. The Knights began to dominate from the start with Lakheem Johnson (’24)  making an interception off of Blake’s first possession. Near the end of the quarter, Logan scored a touchdown taking the score to 7-0.

“The motivation for me was definitely the goal of trying to get coach Mike his first district title,” Logan said. “That’s all he could talk about all week and it felt amazing to help him get it.”

The second quarter began with the Knights gaining possession of the ball off of a quarterback fumble from the Yellow Jackets. The ball was intercepted by Blake nine seconds later, but subsequently regained by Robinson after another Blake offensive fumble. With Knights having possession, Logan scored his second and final touchdown of the night, ending the half with a score of 14-0.

Robinson started the second half with an injury, but was able to keep the momentum going with a touchdown from quarterback Eric Archibald Jr. (’25).

“I feel great, I feel great for my team and for our school that I was able to contribute to bringing this school a district championship,” Archibald said.

The Yellow Jackets continued to have offensive issues when the Blake QB fumbled the snap. The offense was able to recover the ball, but they were pushed back to their 1 yard line. Within nine seconds, RHS wide receiver Wilton Rollins (’24) scored a touchdown taking the score to 27-0.

In what would be the most dominant display by the Knights this game, the fourth quarter began with another touchdown from Archibald. The Knights also sacked the Blake quarterback and intercepted the ball later in the quarter. To end the night off, Jaylen Holman (’26) scored the final touchdown with 28 seconds left in the game bringing the final score to 39-0.

“Anything good that happens, it’s about the people. This season is just the result of a collective effort of everyone trying to pull the same weight,” said Mike Williams, head coach of Knights Football. “The goal now is to be the best version of ourselves. When you get to the playoffs, you can’t have any bad nights.”

About the Contributors
Vikram Sambasivan
Vikram Sambasivan, Co-Editor-in-Chief
Vikram Sambasivan is a senior at Robinson and the Co-Editor-in-Chief of Knight Writers. This is his third year on staff and his third year as an editor. A passionate storyteller, Sambasivan's writing varies across a variety of sections, but he finds his comfort most in news stories, where he delves mostly into current events. "My favorite is perhaps news writing. Some may say it’s plain, and a bit boring, but I find the simplicity to be elegant and a reprieve from the frilly writing that is sometimes preferred in a typical high school English class," Sambasivan said. Outside of the journalism room, you can see Sambasivan serving as the president of Mu Alpha Theta Mathematics Honor Society, rowing down the Hillsborough River for Team Tampa or even conducting research at the Clean Energy Research Center at the University of South Florida. Despite his demanding schedule, Sambasivan likes to wind down and relax by indulging in a number of movies or TV shows. "Rowing is probably tied with tennis as my favorite activity (although it’s not as fun to watch).  The feeling of the cool morning breeze on your face while rowing in the calm, quiet waters isn’t something I’ll soon forget," Sambasivan said. "Watching TV and movies are some of the other things I enjoy. My favorite show changes every day depending on how I’m feeling. Most movies that I watch speak to a different part of me, so I don’t think I could choose a favorite." Sambasivan has set multiple goals for this year's staff. He is looking forward to being in charge and being able to recreate the fun experience of journalism for new staff members. His biggest goal, though, is to be able to help everyone reach their greatest potential by making them stronger writers. "I would like to make them better than me. That’s the hallmark of a good teacher: having your students exceed you. If I can create an environment where people are excited to come in and produce content every day, where they are excited to learn, then I will be happy," Sambasivan added. Although his future is unclear at the moment, Sambasivan hopes to be able to combine his love for STEM and journalism in his future career. "I’m a little sad to be leaving high school. I’ll miss the friends and connections which I have made once I go to college, but this year, for me, is mainly about the future," Sambasivan said. (Profile by Cecilia Cheng)

Jennie Gutman, Staff Writer
Jennie Gutman is a junior at Robinson and a staff writer for Knight Writers. This is her first year on staff. The main reason why Gutman decided to be part of the staff is to become an advanced writer, allowing her to excel in her classes. As a basketball player, Gutman has a deep passion for sports writing and looks forward to covering all the RHS sports. A baller at heart, Gutman aspires to pursue her passion for basketball after high school. "My main goal in basketball is to get into D1, and if not D1 then I would try to get into D2 and then play overseas," Gutman said as she's currently trying to score 1,000 points and was titled the MVP 2 times at Robinson. Other than Basketball, Gutman finds joy in shopping, hanging out with friends, and most importantly, she focuses on exercising at least once per day to try and improve her game. With a wide-open future, Gutman hopes to either help people as a Physical Therapist or pursue her interest in stocks by becoming a Businesswoman. "In the near future, I just want to help people as much as I can," Gutman said. (Profile by Brianna Yasis)
