Lindsay Rubenstein has had aspirations of becoming a teacher since she was 16. Once she graduated from Florida State University, she began to teach and has been with seven schools so far, Robinson being her eighth. Despite this long history of teaching, she is treating Robinson with the same passion and excitement as she did at her first school.

“Junior year of high school I knew I wanted to teach,” Rubenstein said.

Rubenstein’s arrival at Robinson is not only exciting to her, but the staff working here as well.

“I love being across the hall from Ms. Rubenstein because she has great energy and usually has a smile on her face,” aid Nicole Sasser, a reading teacher who teaches across from Rubenstein. “That is the kind of positive energy we need in school. I love that she put a lot of effort into making her room feel inviting and comfortable too.”

Rubenstein is breaking the stigma that students seem to connect with English class. She doesn’t want to teach a brain dead classroom of 15-year-olds, she wants to strike students interests in class and have them eager to discuss and learn each day.

“I really like the conversations that come from kids who actually read the book or lived a little life, the dialogue that happens is more interesting,” Rubenstein said.

Rubenstein implements a healthy classroom setting that has been given praise from other teachers in her department. Rubenstein’s drive to teach and interest in bettering students lives is brightening up the environment at Robinson and contributing to a better and more well rounded school.

“I am thrilled to have Ms. Rubenstein here, working with our freshmen. We share many of the same kids, so she and I are really focusing on working together in order to optimize our students’ learning,” said Kailyn Morman, Robinson’s English department head. “She has tons of wonderful ideas and wants to push her students to become better overall, not just in English.”
