Grace Shafer is a junior at Robinson and the Arts and Entertianment editor of the Knight Writers. This is her third year on staff.
While she is in newspaper, Shafer likes to spend her time thrifting, read, writing, listening to music, vintage shopping and watching films. Some of her favorite artists at the current moment are Kendrick Lamar, Lana Del Ray and Elliott Smith.
“I love them because they replicated the fantasies in your head that you’d never see in real life in their music,” Shafer said.
At the moment she enjoys films such as “Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind,” “The Virgin Suicide” and “Ratatouille.” Her favorite directors currently are Sofia Coppola and Stanley Kubrick.
Shafer first started in newspaper because of her love of writing, connecting to her love for all things film.
“I want to be in newspaper because I’ve always loved writing and thought it would be cool way to have people see my writing,” Shafer said.
She is most looking forward to learning more about newspaper and having fun with her friends. With her interest in writing, her love of film and this ability to work with others, Shafer aspires to be a film director in her future. She has always had a passion for the industry, and it one of the two Robinson film club presidents.
“Films have always been very special to me and making them just sounds like a dream,” Shafer said.
Shafer describes herself to be a silly person, she loves the adventure of going thrifting and out and about with her friends. As a very creative person, Shafer’s love for fashion is very huge and takes a huge part in her life.
“I love fashion. I’m always thinking about my next outfit,” Shafer said.
