I’ve been listening to Taylor ever since I was little. She has influenced my life in so many different ways and taught me how to become a better person. Taylor Swift recently rereleased her album, “Red”, on Friday, Nov. 12. It quickly “became the most-streamed album in a day by a female and Swift even broke the record for the most-streamed female in a day” on Spotify. And let me tell you, blondie definitely deserved all of this, after leaving me and many others speechless and sobbing at 2 a.m. in the morning.

Now onto the actual album itself. I’m going to be completely honest, before listening to the re-recording of “Red”, it has never been on the top of my list. In my opinion, she has amazing individual songs on the album, but many of her other albums stood out to me more. Words can’t describe how shocked I was when I pressed that green play button on Spotify last Friday.

If you couldn’t already guess, the first song that I listened to was the 10-minute version of “All Too Well.” And god, it was an emotional rollercoaster, as it describes a whole love story in just a singular song. She singlehandedly said that it was her favorite song on the whole album and it’s also everyone else’s. Compare to the original, she sounds a lot more mature and you can hear how much the person she wrote this song about affected her life (who I will leave you to figure out when you take a listen to this masterpiece).

I think what makes this and all her other songs stand out so much is how you can interpret her lyrics in numerous amount of different ways. Swift puts thought into writing her songs, unlike many other artists. She is truly a lyrical mastermind.

In the song “Red”, she says “Losing him was blue like I’d never known. Missing him was dark grey all alone.” I mean she doesn’t just say “I miss him and I don’t want to lose him,” she wants her audience to have fun while figuring out the central message to her songs. Adding on, the amount of easter eggs she puts in her songs and music videos is just crazy and even sometimes concerning. But seriously though, you have to examine these lyrics down to the crack to figure out what she is trying to say.

Also, let’s not forget about the nine exclusive “From the Vault” songs. From collaborating with Ed Sheeran to Phoebe Bridgers, Swift has blown my mind. My favorite “From the Vault” song would have to be “Message in a Bottle.” Even though it sounds like a song you would hear in a Barbie movie, listening to it in the morning makes me want to wake up and look towards having a good day. It brings so much serotonin to my soul and is honestly just such a bop.

Overall, this album has to be a 10/10. Ever since “Red (Taylor’s Version)” dropped, I cannot stop listening to it. And yes, I am certainly “happy, free, confused, and lonely” after all this. Swift can really change your mood in a split of a second. If you haven’t listened to “Red (Taylor’s Version)” yet, stream it now and don’t forget about the “All Too Well” short film either!
